Finding the Perfect Location

After scouting all around Los Angeles, a friend recommended Vasquez Rocks, a park just north of me where they shot a LOT of films. I had seen this location on the big screen, yet I had no idea how close it was! It was perfect.

LED Lighting for a Sci-fi Look

When I said this outfit will "light up," I wasn't kidding. You can see here that April has begun adding the blue LED rope lighting in the bodice, and the neck piece has a circular area in the center where a blue LED medallion will go!
A pod skirt completes this futuristic piece!

Shoes: A Very Important Accessory

In the midst of wardrobe being created, I'm on the lookout for the perfect pair of shoes. Here are a few pairs I thought were super cool!

Those were definitely workable looks, but this white pair matches the outfit more. Plus I hear Lady Gaga owns something just like this!

Lace & Pleather

The designer has been getting her materials in bit by bit, and sending me photos. Work has begun on the corset top!
The neck piece has a circular cut out that will hold an LED medallion.

Design Concepts

Fashion Designer: April Vargas

We found an amazing designer who was not only talented and creative, but extremely interested in the project and ready to take on such a huge feat. Her requirements were to come up with a concept that was forward-thinking, sexy and referenced several different styles including futuristic, sci-fi and steampunk. The biggest challenge is that we wanted to incorporate LED lighting in the piece... yes, it will light up!
Design details: White faux leather bodice bustier with sides made of hand-distressed, burned white mesh. The bodice will have princess seam lines in blue LED light rope. Silver tone clock gears will accent the side of the bodice. The white pod-like panel skirt will have a low waist made if faux leather with a top panel layer of clear vinyl, complete with a silver toned oxidized metal closure at the hip and white ruffled lace hem lines, open in the front exposing white hipster cotton bloomers with a white lace trim. A detachable, white glow-in-the-dark fabric spray painted chiffon bustle with gathered fabric will be attached to the back as a dramatic cascading train. This top portion is accented with a white vintage  lace collar with an attached white pearlized faux pleather shoulder pad shaped that will look like a hollow pod, covered by a cascading white chiffon open draping sleeve. The front of the collar has a sphere-shaped LED medallion embedded in the lace and will flashes multiple colors. It's finished with a removable pleated white chiffon cloak hood. Broken glass mirror pieces will be fixed to the lace collar to give the effect of flashing lights (from the medallion).

Time Traveler: The Project

The Time Traveler project is a photo shoot saluting the work of Kristen Nedopak: Actress, Host, Producer and Geek. A one-woman show, Kristen is a trendsetter and innovator in her field who has proven that one can trailblaze, create buzz and secure the status of an "it" girl through creative, non-traditional means, all while inspiring the masses.

The theme of this shoot is "tech fashion," and it will entail the creation of one-of-a-kind couture that screams creative, fierce and fun, and above all else, pushes the limits of fashion.

Here are a few reference images for the concept:
